Job Title: Thrift Store Manager
Reports To: Director of Retail Operations / Area Manager
Salary: $65,000-$70,000 annually plus bonus potential for meeting and exceeding budget requirements.
Status: Full-Time, Exempt
Job SummaryThe Thrift Store Manager is responsible for the overall success of the store, balancing profit-driven retail sales with efficient donation processing and community impact. This role oversees a diverse team of staff ensuring that donated goods are processed quickly, priced accurately, and displayed effectively to drive revenue for Thrift World.
Key Responsibilities1. Production & Inventory ManagementDonation Intake: Oversee the "donation door area" operations, ensuring a polite, efficient, and organized donation experience for the public.
E-commerce: Identify high-value items for online sales to maximize revenue.
Supervision: Train and schedule employees.
Culture: Foster a positive, mission-driven work environment.
Safety: Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, particularly regarding heavy lifting and warehouse organization.
Reporting: Manage daily cash reconciliation, bank deposits, and weekly sales reports.
Loss Prevention: Implement strategies to reduce "shrinkage" (theft or internal errors).
Budgeting: Manage controllable expenses, including supplies, waste removal, and labor hours.
Soft Skills: High emotional intelligence for managing and mediating diverse workforce and occasionally "difficult" employee, customer and donation door situations.
Technical: Proficiency with POS (Point of Sale) systems and basic Microsoft Office/Google Workspace.
Sales per Square Foot: How efficiently the floor space is being used.
Production Volume: Pounds of items processed/priced per day.
Average Transaction Value (ATV): The average amount spent by each customer.
Inventory Turnover: How quickly items move from the back room to the checkout.
