2+ years recent, relevant experience on submarines

TSD P1 Non-Nuclear Pipefitter (Shop & Aboard Ship)

  • Fabricate, install, modify and repair piping/hoses; layout, template, target, bend, assemble, install, and prepare pipe for welding or brazing
  • Create various pressure joints within the piping system
  • Cut, end prep, and fit-up piping joints (existing & new)
  • Disassemble, inspect, and assemble mechanical joints
  • Complete required documents and QA forms

TSD P3 Non-Nuclear Piping System Testing

  • Inspect and test piping to certify systems; troubleshoot, groom, modify, and repair ship installations
  • Install hydrostatic test gear, test pumps; perform component checks, adjustments, alignments, and operational tests
  • Remove valves and install jumpers, blanks, test equipment, and pumps to ready for preliminary air test, hydrostatic test and flushing
  • Communicate safe execution of tests; restore system to normal ship conditions

Pipefitter Skill Requirements

TSD P1 (Non-Nuclear Pipefitting)

  • Trained, qualified and experienced with all tasks and components described for TSD P1
  • Steam Plant Cleanliness trained and qualified IAW NAVSEA INST 9210.36F as implemented by Corporate Naval Shipyard Uniform Industrial Process Instruction 5050-450A

TSD P3 (Shipboard Testing)

  • Trained, qualified and experienced with all tasks and components described for TSD P3
  • Steam Plant Cleanliness trained and qualified IAW NAVSEA INST 9210.36F as implemented by Corporate Naval Shipyard Uniform Industrial Process Instruction 5050-450A
