Job Title: Pipefitter

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Pipefitter with extensive experience in the marine, commercial nuclear, or petrochemical industries.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret ship piping drawings accurately.
  • Fit carbon steel, CRES, and copper nickel piping with precision.
  • End prep piping by hand or using Portsmouth Machine.
  • Install pipe hangers effectively.
  • Read a ruler using both inches and tenths.
  • Prep and fit-up backing rings.
  • Clean cut/break pipe using a grinder.
  • Hand prep V bevels.
  • Fabricate various details and assemblies from drawings.
  • Bend pipe from templates using a hand bender.
  • Fit welded sockets and brazed joints with or without inserts.

Essential Skills

  • 3 or more years of experience as a marine, commercial nuclear, or petrochemical First Class Pipefitter.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting ship piping drawings.
  • Skilled in fitting various types of piping including carbon steel, CRES, and copper nickel.
  • Ability to end prep piping using hand tools or machinery.
  • Knowledgeable in pipe hanger installation.
  • Competence in using a ruler with inches and tenths.
  • Expertise in prepping and fitting backing rings.
  • Experience in pipe fabrication from drawings.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Newport News, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $29.50 - $29.50/hr.
